The Maren Sanchez Home Foundation is launching it's first annual fundraiser, A Magical Night in the French Quarter. The Foundation's mission is to "empower girls to defend themselves against emotional, psychological and verbal manipulation and physical violence." This event will raise funds to continue the Foundation's self defense programs, work shops, camps and children's books. Get ready for a magical night at the Milford Yacht Club, which will include a New Orleans themed buffet dinner, silent and live auction, bourbon tasting, live music and more!

What is the inner voice? What does it sound like? What does it feel like when you hear it? Do you listen to it or do you ignore it?

For me the Inner voice is the subtle stop sign that pops up in front of you when something is just not sitting right with you. The soft voice that speaks in your mind that tells you to beware. It feels as if someone has tugged on your arm for you to stop walking and look around. Sometimes it is the visceral gut reaction that makes you feel nervous or scared. When this happens it can be disturbing and sometimes disappointing. We believe in this life that people are generally good and want the best for us. In reality not everyone does. Some people want whats best for them and will do or say anything to get you to change your mind or go against what your true feelings are. In many situations we have neglected to listen to our inner voices, are intuition. We intentionally neglect to act on our instincts. We don't have to remind a cat to run from danger. We don't have to remind a baby to cry when they are hungry...I wonder why we must continually remind ourselves to listen to our gut instincts. My thoughts on this are that we are taught especially as young girls to Play nice, don't talk to loud and tob give people second chances. We worry that we will not be liked or fit in at the expense of ignoring what we know to be true for ourselves. Have you ever told someone what you were feeling or tried to leave a relationship just to have that person tell you that what you were feeling was wrong or that you were not seeing things clearly? Have you second guessed youself because someone has tried to convince you that what your inner voice was telling you was not real? Have you ever sat in confusion because you know what you feel but are being told to go against it and to not hurt the other persons feeling while you clearly are neglecting how you are feeling? I challenge the reader to talk to us about your experiences with your Inner voice. Tell us a time when you did listen to your gut or maybe a time when you didn't and what happened as a result. Listening to your inner voice is something we should begin to practice every day. It could help you to stay safe and live the life that you want and deserve. Add a comment
